Computer Arts issue 147

Supersize design - it's our latest issue, on sale now

art147cover200Phew. I’m pleased to report that the response to the new-look Computer Arts has been extremely positive. We’re quite relieved. I suppose we were waiting on the emails and sales figures with some trepidation. A little bit like when you’ve sent your work through to a client and you’re waiting to hear back. Will they love it? Will they hate it? Or will they be indifferent?

When we’re putting together a magazine, it’s a matter of having over 21,000 clients around the world, each with their own individual tastes. That’s pretty daunting when you think about it. You could liken it to what we’re talking about in our main feature this issue: supersize design. Here we’re celebrating the work of those designers who are lucky enough to land those really enormous jobs. They project images onto buildings, paint aircraft liveries, or hang lavish banners on 20-storey buildings. If the design doesn’t go down very well, a giant piece of work like that could end up offending hundreds of thousands of people.

It’s always tricky to please a big audience but hopefully the kind of visuals and articles you see in each issue of deliver new ideas that help the process, resulting in fresh things to offer clients. Get back to us and tell us what you like, and what you don’t like.
