Computer Arts issue 164
The latest issue, on sale now
What’s your favourite colour? And how does it make you feel? That’s the question we asked all of our illustrators this month. Find their answers dotted through the mag. The question was, of course a nod towards our huge feature on colour.
In this in-depth look at how contemporary designers and illustrators are refreshing their colour palettes, we talk to such artists as Chrissie Abbott, Jen Stark, Slawek Michalt and Eli Carrico, who discuss exactly what colour means to them and their work.
Elsewhere this issue we take a trip to Brooklyn to visit the home studio of the incredible Autumn Whitehurst. In this intimate portrait of one of the world’s most successful illustrators, Whitehurst discusses her life and career, and how she ‘renovated’ her style. The artist is, as you’ve probably guessed, responsible for this issue’s cover. If you’ve picked the magazine up from the shelves, you have a choice of three spot colours; if you’re a subscriber, you’ll have a limited edition metallic cover in your hands.
Tutorials of particular note this month come from the brilliant Nigel Evan Dennis – the well-known commercial illustrator shows you his new style – James Wignall who shows you how to roughen-up vectors; and Rob Chiu who reveals a great technique for single-shot HDR imagery.
Next issue we bring you our annual Graduate Showcase. Look out for it on sale in the UK from Thursday 30 July. See you then.
