Another delicious portion of desktop joy for you, imported all the way from Jeremyville
Armed with his endless pen, Jeremyville surfs the midnight hour on his empty sketchpad, endlessly constructing a multitude of enigmatic characters to populate his eponymous hometown.
Things could have been very different had he turned down a job as a cartoonist on the Sydney Morning Herald while studying architecture at university. He soon went freelance and started constructing Jeremyville. It wasn’t long before his inbox began to creak with commissions from such graphic arts patrons as Coca-Cola, Nestlé, Nokia and Diesel. And then came the seminal Vinyl Will Kill! – a book dedicated to the vinyl toy genre beloved of design junkies everywhere.
“My art is really an extension of who I am, not something arrived at quickly, but brought forth from within, over time,” explains Jeremyville. It’s art that has quickly expanded into vinyl toys, murals and a clothing range. It appears unstoppable.
All Jeremyville will say about the concept behind his illustration for our 50 Ways to Become a Better Designer feature is that it came from “drowning characters rescued from the stream of consciousness that meanders through the outskirts of Jeremyville. Or possibly not.” And with that he’s off to build his own rainbow across the graphic design firmament.
