Angle Mort
Don’t pick up strangers is the moral of this French horror short from the 3D World showreel, in which a journey takes a spooky twist straight into the Twilight Zone. Or somewhere very like it…
Thunder roars and lightning strikes as the camera pans down from the night-sky onto a country lane. A car draws to a halt underneath the flickering neon sign of a rundown bar. The driver, who looks as white as a sheet and decidedly shaken, enters the building and looks around. He gingerly approaches the barman and a lone customer nursing a coffee, and begins to nervously tell the story of about a little girl hitch-hiker he’d picked up just before the crossroads.
Who was she? What does she know? And did she ever really exist? These are just some of the questions that trouble the driver enough to make him sink a double cognac before he can re-live the events of that evening in heart-pounding detail to his small but rapt audience.
