Graham Corcoran is a 26-year-old freelance illustrator from Dublin who has worked for clients including American Greetings, Harcourt Brace, Enlight Software and the Smithwick's Cat Laughs Comedy Festival.
Graham works mostly work in Photoshop and creates all of his art with a Wacom tablet and pen. "My work is influenced by illustrators and designers from the 1950s and 1960s," he says. "I'm inspired by the work of Miroslav Sasek, Mary Blair, Olle Eksell and the Provenens. I am also a great admirer of contemporary Japanese illustrators, including Tadahiro Useugi, Yoko Tanji, Yamauchi Kazuaki, Yoshitomo Nara and Cozy Tomato.
"The internet is one of the most valuable tools a freelancer has. It allows me to work for companies across the world - from Hong Kong and Spain to Germany and the USA."
GIRL ON A MOTORCYCLE "I enjoy designing machinery, especially the rickety, almost broken-down kind. This bike is loosely based on an old Triumph, and I wanted to contrast the dirtiness of the bike with a cute girl."

STEAMPUNK "I have always been a big fan of the Steampunk genre. These are my concepts for huge coal-powered mechanical warriors, but rather than using a traditional fantasy style, I used my 'children's book' style. I think it adds quirkiness."

Adam Lewis recently graduated from the University of Glamorgan with a BA (Hons) and MA in Graphic Communication. He now works as a freelance designer, but is currently on the look-out for a full-time position as a junior designer.
"All the images shown here were created in Illustrator or Photoshop," he says. "I enjoy using the various Overlay filters, which are very good for creating depth. Much of my inspiration comes from sources such as music, architecture, nature and the work of other designers."
A VISUAL PLAYGROUND "This image, the second of three, was created using circular shapes. It also contains elements recycled from other projects."

Ben Hewitt is a 20-year-old student who will graduate next year from the BA (Hons) Multimedia Production and Technology degree at the University of Plymouth.
"I first got into digital art about three years ago but have always appreciated design," he says. "I've always been artistic but find working digitally really creative and work flows for me nicely.
"Experimenting is definitely the way forward. It took me a long time to obtain techniques I use now and to develop my style. I'm constantly striving to move forward and push on, branch out into new things and have fun with what I'm doing."
OPIATE "Here I tried to communicate the theme of pollution and spoil. I wanted to portray the message using colours and stock images blended together."

BAD GRAMMA "This is one of my favourite works. I was really blocked for a while and then I started sketching the piano keys and it sprouted from there. It was a breakthrough for my style."

Born in 1975 in The Hague, Paco Raphael Krijnen studied at The Hague University and graduated as an interaction designer, but shortly after decided to follow his passion for graphic design.
"Now I work as a designer at MTV Networks," he says, "but I also work as a freelance designer when I can under the name Pixelprecies. I like to keep busy and develop my work, which is influenced by my love for the 1960s and 1970s. My images often feature a subtle blend of erotic elements and a warm colour palette."
