Dhanank Pambayun (aka Tragikpixel) was born in a town called Tuban, Bali, but moved to the Indonesian city of Yogyakarta to study graphic design and has lived there ever since.
"Now I work as a graphic artist at the Embassy Club, and at the same time do some local art projects with Republicart," he says.
Pambayun has creative roots: "My father works as a teacher at an elementary school, but he used to make traditional puppet paintings and my first artistic influences came from him," he says. It was Pambayun's father who encouraged him to learn how to use brushes, mix acrylic, paint on canvas and draw on recycled paper.
"In 1999 I tried to learn how to use graphic design software and soon found that I enjoyed this more," Pambayun remembers. "These days, my influences include Warhol, Carson, Tim Burton, Kyle Cooper, Jonas Akerlund, Mark Rayden, Ray Caesar and Nicolas di Genova - they all influence my taste and style."
Pambayun's work is made up of complex compositions with a high level of detail. Each piece contains vintage looks, disharmony, colour, and decorative and grunge effects.
"I only stop to move the mouse if I have run out of blank space on my canvas," he admits.
HELLO SPONGE! "This piece was inspired by the SpongeBob SquarePants movie. I created a cute monster with teddy bears around him using Photoshop 7 to create the character and scanned material for the detail."

CHRISTIAN LINDEMANN
LOCATION Hannover, Germany
JOB Freelance illustrator
CONTACT www.lindedesign.de
SOFTWARE Illustrator and Photoshop
Christian Lindemann studied graphic design in Germany and Australia and graduated from university in 2003. "After finishing my studies, the agency Dievision hired me to work for them full-time to work on all kinds of jobs from logos and brochures to illustrations and branding," he says.
But after a while, Lindemann realised he wanted to concentrate on illustration, so he quit his job and went freelance instead.
"Now I work as a freelance illustrator from my home for a range of clients, magazines and books," he says. "I also doodle a lot in my sketchbook - recently a lot of monsters and kraken. I then paint or draw some of those doodles on canvas or cardboard, and I'm also launching a small T-Shirt label called Alive. It's all about rare animals and a bird with sneakers."
Lindemann is now busy with his participation at the 18th Independent Arts Festival in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium - a group show where artists from all over the world exhibit street art, paintings, and lots more.

"I always begin with a sketch created with a real pencil and a sheet of paper," says Cédric le Floch of his eye-catching illustration work.
"Then, I scan the results of my sketching and open the file with the software that I think is the most appropriate for the job - either Photoshop or Illustrator. I always use vector graphics as the basis of my illustrations, before adding lighting effects or other things that I think Photoshop can do better."
