Martin is a 29-year-old freelance illustrator who often works under the alias of 'tweekhed'. He began his career doing graphic design before concentrating his efforts on illustration - some of the results of which you can see here.
"My mixed-media approach to illustration combines sculpture, photography, vector and hand-drawn imagery," he says. "I am hugely influenced by animation, comics and the cinema. I try to give my work a cinematic and vibrant feel and think a lot about how lighting can be used within my images to create the right atmosphere."
IRON MAN "Like a lot of my work, this is often mistaken for CGI, but it's actually a fully painted sculpture which has been photographed and composited with various other elements in Photoshop."

URINATE "I have used the concept to explore depth and perspective, thus giving the viewer work to do when viewing it. I have chosen the subject because it's a very common situation but is rarely captured and documented, and thus becomes rather comic."

DIRTY LOVE His love for Frank Zappa shines through in his artwork. This one is based on the song Dirty Love, in which Zappa embraced the topic of groupies.

Toby was the winner of a D&AD New Blood award back in 2002 for one of his animations. Currently he's working as a graphic designer in Northampton, while spending most of his free time painting, illustrating and working on more animations.
GIZZARDS OUT This was an experimental creation, based on one of Toby's sketches. "I really enjoy throwing things together to create a totally garish and messy final piece," he says. "I use the filters in Photoshop a lot and my process is pretty random - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't."

Michelle has just graduated from Northbrook College in Sussex with First Class honours in Communication Design. Her wallpaper design work caught our eye at the New Designers show.
"I wanted to create bespoke wallpaper that could be personalised by the viewer, inviting them to think and react. This interactivity led to a sense of playfulness within the work, which could be interpreted and manipulated in the clients' desired way," she says.
PENGUINS AND WHIPPETS One of Michelle's bespoke wallpapers. "I took inspiration from a motif I found on an old sewing machine, which is a family heirloom. I reworked the motif incorporating Victorian patterns and architecture."
