Daniel Hall has been busy since his graduation from Nottingham Trent University in 2005. "I've been doing freelance work for a local book publisher and creating promotional web material for an internet company," he says. "I have also created some motion graphics for ActionAid's Bollocks to Poverty campaign, which is being shown at this year's Reading Festival."
Daniel prides himself on his creativity, and takes pleasure in creating art through many different mediums. "Much of my work comes from an initial given brief," he says, "but I enjoy this process as I believe it adds a functional element to my work. Most of my ideas come from readings, films and societal observations."
Having exhibited his work at Nottingham Trent University and the Islington Business Design Centre, Daniel has recently been offered a job at Midas Collective. "At this stage in my career I want to take advantage of any opportunity that may arise and gain as much exposure as possible," he says.
RAVE RIOT "This was a piece of development work for a university project, in which we had the opportunity to pitch for the Prodigy's 'best of' album Their Law."

IMAGINE "This image references the early surrealists and their obsession with transmutations. I try to create a contemporary style by subtly introducing modern graphical elements into the piece."

"Dermot McConaghy is 26-year-old designer who works a 40-hour week in a forklift factory. "I work for the weekend just like most people, to have a drink and a laugh," he says. "But illustration is my release from the mundane part of my life. I try to use my day job as a positive creative influence for my freelance work."
Dermot bases many of his images on the people he works with, the faces he sees and the stories he hears. "I take the scrap surfaces and textures that I find in work and scan them into Photoshop. I then combine them with photography, sketching, masking tape, dried marker and various other media to create each illustration," he says. "I am not a big fan of slick vector graphics and pixel perfection as I think this approach mainly produces very anal and uncreative work. Some people like it and some don't. I find it forgettable."
AFFAIRGROUND "Old scanned photography combined with colours created with insulating tape and found material from a factory floor. The artwork was commissioned by The Kings for the No Faith No Glory album sleeve."

Junichi Tsuneoka was born and raised in Japan, but arrived in the US in the late 1990s. "Over the last few years I have been working as a graphic designer, during which time I have developed a style that is often described as a cross between Japanese manga and graffiti," he says. "Some people also call it 'California Roll Stylie' - Japanese pop culture meets US urban culture!"
Junichi founded his successful Seattle-based illustration and design studio Stubborn Sideburn in early 2006, where his strong design background now influences his illustration work. "My illustrations are very unique and communicate effectively," he says.
This summer, Junichi will be teaching intermediate graphic design at the School of Visual Concepts and an upper-level illustration class in the autumn at the Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, where he trained.
TRAGICALLY HIP "This limited-edition screen-printed image was used as concert poster for the House of Blues concert."

Originally from Devon, 23-year-old Richt now lives in Bristol, where he "lives, paints and designs things." As well as working as a freelance artist, Richt also makes up one-third of the mighty, mighty 'what' crew, along with designers 45rpm and Sainty.
"My design work to date includes exhibitions in London, Manchester, Bristol, Munich and Paris, and design work for Spunky Clothing, Terratag and others," he says. "During a recent design collaboration with the Dot The Eyes crew in Manchester, I painted alongside a whole host of other artists, and you can see the end result at www.dottheeyes.co.uk."
So how would he describe his work? "My style is quite bold and my images often contain a lot of organic shapes and forms," he says. "My work is mostly character based, and I usually use a pretty limited colour palette. I think to an extent your style comes from who you paint with. You learn from each other and pick things up subconsciously."
FREE ALAN! "This image forms part of a series of images I created with Showchicken. They depict Alan and his first mate Phillipe getting free in a variety of ways."
