“What is funny is that every time I get back from holiday I notice that most of the holiday snaps are not of my lovely girlfriend topless on the beach but of shopfronts with logos and curious typefaces. My girlfriend is never amused,” says Jonathan Looman, also known as Lowman.

With a passion for old logos and the kind of type used on corner-shop fronts, Jonathan is working as a freelancer while studying at the Utrecht Academy of Arts. He’s done internships at Solar_Initiative and another at Machine. He’s also busy setting up his own company and putting his Fingertype font into production.

Drop Poster This poster was created to promote Drop, a night Jonathan organises in Amsterdam where musicians, DJs and visual artists can get together to display their skills: “The graphical style is a hotchpotch of many different typefaces from periods in history. It’s great being your own client.”
