Discreet launches Combustion 4
Desktop motion graphics package inherits features from high-end video systems
Discreet has announced the launch of the latest version of its motion graphics and visual effects package Combustion, which features a range of tools for visual effects such as vector paints, particles effects animation and 3D compositing tools.
Discreet, who also publish high end video effects systems flint, flame, inferno, fire and smoke, has applied some of this high-end specialist video effects technology to version 4 of Combustion. One of the key new features in Combustion 4 is the Diamond Keyer, a sophisticated keying algorithm (keying is the term applied to a variety of video masking techniques such as chromakeying or ‘blue screening’) which has been derived from Discreet’s flame suite.
Other new effects features include Time Warp, a new time remapping function for creating slow motion and speeded-up effects and B-spline vector shapes and newpoint-grouping to aid Rotoscoping
Other enhancements include a number of modifications to the user interface such as the edit-operator, navigation, filtering and compare tool
Combustion 4 will be available for Pc in March 2005 and Macintosh in May priced at £850. Combustion 3 users can upgrade for £200. For more information visit www.discreet.com.
