NuLOOQ Navigator
Rarely does an input device change your approach to work
Created for use in tandem with a mouse or tablet, Logitech is positioning the NuLOOQ navigator as the perfect partner to Creative Suite 2, and on spec, it seems to be just that.
The NuLOOQ includes a hardware input device and a software control centre. The controller itself is a palm-sized unit split into three sections. A touch-sensitive iPod-style scroll wheel sits on top, while five modifier buttons lay across it. Between each button are programmable zones that allow you to quickly access some of CS2’s most used features.
Brush sizes and layers can be scrolled through at ease when in Photoshop, while leading and tracking can be tweaked easily in InDesign. Underneath the top layer sits the navigation ring; a twistable layer used for scrolling and zooming around a document, while a sturdy metal base sits at the bottom.
In practice the NuLOOQ takes a little getting used to. The tooldial software allows you to configure up to 72 shortcuts and modifiers, so any repetitive task or automation in CS2 can be launched from your fingertips. Setting one of the trigger points as the Option key speeds your workflow immensely, while zooming and tracking about in any video editor is a breeze.
Tool values can even be adjusted while you’re working. So, if you’re having to batch convert a stack of photos in Photoshop, you can set the NuLOOQ to carry out cropping or contrast changes at the flick of a button.
